Prof. Dr. Bettina von Helversen
This professorship investigates how people make judgments and decisions. Specifically, we’re interested in understanding what kind of information people use when making decisions and which cognitive strategies they use to integrate information from multiple sources. In particular we focus on the role information retrieved from memory such as memories about previous experiences with similar options play in the decision process. We study how these memories influence the decision process, how this changes over the life span, and the implications they bear for understanding decisions in applied contexts.
The professorship is funded by the Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF).
