I am Maila Manenti and I graduated from the University of Fribourg in 2022 with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology. My academic journey involved several internships that spanned different areas of the psychological discipline. At the cantonal psychiatric clinic in Mendrisio (TI), I had the opportunity to deal directly with people facing mental health problems. There were many patients from difficult family backgrounds characterized by poverty, neglect, and substance abuse. It became clear that these unfortunate circumstances commonly lead to the onset of mental disorders in adolescence. This experience made me decide to write my Master’s thesis in clinical developmental psychology and to contribute to research that will inform practical and preventive measures to promote well-being in the population.
