Prof. Dr. Hans-Dieter Daniel
The Professorship engages in higher education research from the perspective of the social sciences, social psychology in particular. In addition to social science research methods, the research draws upon social psychology theories on social judgment formation and decision-making in groups and organizations as a basis for the investigation of issues in university policy and practice. In teaching, the Professorship offers courses on selected topics in social psychology.
Prof. Dr. Hans-Dieter Daniel holds a dual professorship at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH) Zurich and at the University of Zurich. The Professorship for Social Psychology and Research on Higher Education belongs to the Behavioral Studies Section (BSS) of the Department of Humanities and Social Sciences (GESS) at the Federal Institute of Technology (ETH) Zurich. Researchers in this section enquire as to how humans – both as individuals and as parts of society – behave in certain social environments and study the practical effects of this behavior on the practical application of scientific-technical insights in society as well as on other social and economic developments.
