Curriculum vitae

Laura completed her PhD in neuropsychology at Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz, Germany, investigating stressor controllability as a resilience mechanism. She works as a senior research associate at the University of Zurich where she has been managing the STRESS study—a longitudinal examination of stress and resilience in medical interns. Laura is also involved in other projects, including a study on international student mental health with Ann Natterer and the Agora project on enhancing citizens’ crisis competence—a joint project of the University and the City of Zurich. Overall, Laura’s research focuses on (1) identifying factors that promote resilience, (2) delineating the underlying mechanisms (e.g., control, emotion regulation), and (3) developing preventive interventions that foster mental health and well-being. She adopts a multimodal, translational approach, combining self-report, neuroimaging, and psychophysiological measures with ecological momentary assessments, wearables, and naturalistic data (e.g., video recordings).

Laura gives seminars on resilience, emotion regulation and emotional disorders, as well as on understanding mental disorders as a network. In addition, she manages the ExPP Research Colloquium together with Birgit Kleim.

Since 2020, Laura has been organising the international online seminar series, Resilient Minds. The regular meetings bring together early career stress and resilience researchers and offer an informal space for exchange.
