Professorship for Applied Social and Health Psychology

Prof. Dr. Urte Scholz

Welcome!

At the professorship for Applied Social and Health Psychology we explore topics such as the experience and behaviour of people in their natural social context. Under the guidance of Professor Urte Scholz the main focus of research is in the field of Health Psychology, a sub-discipline of Applied Social Psychology.

We mainly focus on questions relating to health behaviour change (e.g., the initiation and maintenance of health-related physical activity; the cessation of smoking; changes in diet) as well as with questions about stress and disease management (e.g., coping with critical life events; coping with multi-morbidity). Of particular interest to us within these categories is individual self-regulation on the one hand, as well as the role that social environment plays (e.g. one’s spouse) on the other.

We would be delighted for you to learn more about the professorship through this website. Under the category Team, you will find out more about the members of our team and their publications, and under Research, you will find a more detailed description of our main research areas as well as current and completed research projects.
